Tulip Macro

How to take this type of shot with a flash in full sun light: Set the camera to M or to manual mode. Set the ISO to its lowest value. Set your shutter to its highest flash synchronizing speed. Set the aperture to a value high enough, f11+ , to have your camera meter show that the exposure is 5+ stops under exposed. Set like this a non-flash shot will come out black. Then use an E-TLL flash that works with your camera and does its own metering. This will correctly light the nearby flower while leaving the rest of the photo underexposed. Adjust your flash's +/- exposure control to get the best exposure.
