Passing preserved 'deckers
These two fine preserved buses are seen here on A685 Wiseber Brow, during the Cumbria Easter Rally on 30/03/2024. Heading away from the camera is preserved London Buses, M781, KYV781X, MCW bodied MCW Metrobus DR101/14. New to London Transport, in 03/1982, this Metrobus is one of a huge 1,442 built for London Transport/London Buses. This vehicle spent time at the Clapton and the Enfield depots of the Leaside Buses area and thus came under the control of Arriva. It later passed to Arriva Scotland West and is now part of the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust, Bridgeton Bus Garage, Glasgow, Scotland. It is seen here having departed from Kirkby Stephen(West) Station, and is heading for Grand Prix Coaches, Brough. Heading in the opposite direction is preserved United, 808, APT808W, an ECW bodied Bristol VRT/SL3/6LXB. It was new to United Automobile Services in 08/1980 and certainly looks the part here. It's as good inside as it looks out. © Peter Steel 2024.
