MSC Cruises - MSC Virtuosa - IMO: 9803625

MSC Virtuosa is a Meraviglia-Plus-class cruise ship owned and operated by MSC Cruises. Constructed by Chantiers de l'Atlantique, Saint-Nazaire, France, she is the second ship in the Meraviglia-Plus class and sister ship to MSC Grandiosa. Originally scheduled to debut on 08/11/2020, her delivery and entry into service was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She was delivered to MSC Cruises on 01/02/2021 and entered service in 05/2021. With a GTW 181,541 she can accommodate 4,842 passengers at double-occupancy and 6,334 at maximum capacity. She has a crew of 1,704. Costing €800 million in 2016, she was laid down on 27/02/2019, launched on 29/11/2019, and christened, on 27/11/2021, by Sophia Loren, the famous Italian actress. Registered in Malta, with a home port of Valletta, she is seen here in the Port of Cádiz, Spain, at what looks to be a recently constructed cruise berth, on 01/08/2023. Having departed from Southampton, on 29/07/2023, she was operating on a 14-night Spain and France cruise; Southampton - Cádiz - Málaga, Spain - Alicante, Spain - Palma de Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain - Toulon, France - Barcelona, Spain - La Coruna, Spain - Southampton, where she would arrive back on 12/08/2023.

 

This photo was taken from the starboard side, on P&O Cruises - MV Britannia - IMO: 9614036, when departing for Southampton, after arriving in the morning from Málaga, where she had departed from the early evening prior. She would arrive in Southampton in the morning of 04/08/2023.

 

MV Britannia was completed on 26/02/2015 by Fincantieri, Monfalcone, Italy. She was laid down on 15/05/2013, launched on 14/02/2014 and Christened by the late HRH Queen Elizabeth II, on 10/03/2015 with her maiden voyage on the 14/03/2015. She is from the Royal Class of cruise ships and is British registered in Southampton. She has a GTW of 143,730, has seventeen decks of which fourteen are passenger accessible giving a maximum passenger capacity of 3,647 and 1,398 crew. She is powered by Wärtsilä 12V46F x 2 & Wärtsilä 14V46F x 2 & propulsion electric motors - 2 x VEM Sachsenwerk GMBH and is capable of 21.9 knots and a cruising speed of around 19 knots.
