Preserved London Transport - M5 THX105S - MCW Metrobus DR101/3 - Metro-Cammell
New in 09/1978, this smart Metrobus was the last in a batch of five prototypes delivered to London Transport for evaluation against the Park Royal built Leyland Titan B15's. The premature end of production of the Titan resulted in the Metrobus being the largest class of the two, totalling 1,440 Mk.I's, they being purchased between 1978 and 1986. A few more secondhand examples were acquired later from GMPTE, Tyne & Wear PTE and Yorkshire Rider(West Yorkshire PTE). It is seen here looking resplendent when on display at the Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust's Lytham Hall Rally & Running Day, on 17/07/2022. © Peter Steel 2022.
