Howards Travel Group, Warrington, J204HFR - Leyland Olympian ON2R56G13Z4 - Alexander RL

New to Stagecoach Ribble(2204), in 11/1991, this long Olympian was in a batch of seven to work out of the Morecambe depot. When with Stagecoach, it received this nice Morecambe & Heysham Corporation style livery. Passing onto Howards, it retained this livery for a while before being smartly repainted. It will be noted, that it still retains it's original destination blinds and is seen here near the Midland Hotel, Morecambe, when on display at the Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust's Rally & Running Day, on 06/05/2012, held at the Lancashire seaside resort. Contrasting alongside is preserved Standerwick - 60, LRN60J, an ECW bodied Bristol VRLLH6L. Always a great presence on the Rally scene, these rare machines worked for the Ribble group on express services in the 1970's. Not many survivors are left, this one being new to Standerwick, in 03/1971. © Peter Steel 2012.
