Preserved 'Mancunians'
The 'Mancunians' were designed in conjunction with Manchester Corporation Transport and all had similar bodies despite being built by various coachbuilders. Both of these are based on the Daimler Fleetline CRG6LXB-33 chassis and both have Park Royal bodies. The Leyland Atlantean was also used as a chassis. On the left of the photo is recently restored SELNEC PTE 2130, NNB589H. It was new to the PTE, in 02/1970 and has 'Central' division flashes while alongside is long time preserved 2236, RNA236J. New to SELNEC PTE in 06/1971, it carries the later stylised 'M' Greater Manchester Transport fleetnames. Greater Manchester Transport succeeded SELNEC on 01/04/1974 under local government reorganisation. These buses are seen here on display at the North West Vehicle Restoration Trust's open and running day, Kirkby Industrial Estate, Liverpool, on 05/06/2022. © Peter Steel 2022.
