Shearings, Wigan, 626 M626PVR - Volvo B10M-62 - Jonckheere Deauville

New to Shearings, in 05/1995, and band new at the time, this smart B10M is seen here outside a Wembley Exhibition Hall, awaiting to convey happy Bolton Wanderers F.C. supporters, or maybe officials, after their team's victory against Reading F.C, 4-3 after extra time, at the English Football League 1st. Division Play-off Final, on 29/05/1995. Not unless, it was a spare coach in case of failure for the other near thirty coaches from Shearings that went. This was game was for promotion to the FA English Premier League. It was played out in front of a match attendance of 64,107. As this day was a Bank Holiday Monday, plenty of supporters from both teams had made the journey by coach, so much so, that a couple of the exhibition halls were in use. In normal circumstances, I would have left before the end of the game, however, as some burly security guards would not allow me and a couple of other enthusiasts into the halls to note numbers down, prior to, or when the match was taking place, even though the football supporters has access and the coaches had unloaded passengers, I stayed and waited for the coaches to exit. Shearings were the main supplier for Bolton Wanderers official supporters coaches. Shearings also brought their own service van to support their fleet of coaches on the day. Shearings, are now a name only brand after the well known tour operator, along with sister company National Holidays, collapsed during 2020 when the company owners put them into receivership. The brand is now owned by Leger Travel.

The camera being a Praktica MTL3 with the film being the excellent Fujichrome.
