Metroline Travel, Harrow - SR59 F159FWY - Mercedes-Benz 811D - Optare StarRider
For further mini/midibus work, London Buses bought 123 of these Merc. 811D's. They were relatively long-lived with the first entering service in 07/1988 and the last bowed out thirteen years later in 07/2001. This one was new to London Buses, in 07/1989, and allocated to the low-cost Bexleybus unit, numbered 113, and painted in the attractive blue and cream livery of that unit. It entered service from Bexleyheath and was repainted to LT red in 06/1990. It was transferred to New Cross in 12/1990, however, a month later, it went back to Bexleyheath. Passing to the Edgware garage in 10/1991, it moved onto Cricklewood, in 03/1993, therefore coming under the control of the then London Buses subsidiary, Metroline. It came back to Edgware in 04/1994 and was fitted with air suspension. In 1996, it was sold to Holt, Bolton, then passing to M & D Travel, Thornaby-on-Tees, in c04/2000. It is seen here at Edgware Bus Station, on 25/10/1994, when operating for the then newly privatised Metroline Travel. It is laying over prior to working to Colindale Asda.
The camera being a Praktica MTL3 with the film being the excellent Fujichrome.
I would request, as with all my photos, that they are not copied or downloaded in any way, shape or form. © Peter Steel 1994.
