Preserved London Transport - RFW14 LUC389 - AEC Regal Mk.IV 9812E - ECW

New to LT in 06/1951, this smart Regal is seen here on display at London United's Fulwell garage for Busfest '94, on a hot 24/07/1994. I'm unsure if this was a centenary event or to mark an anniversary. There were fifteen of these RFWs, RFW1-15, LUC376-90 and were bought to modify the private hire fleet. Upon withdrawal towards the end of 1964, ten passed to the Ceylon Transport Board. This one was withdrawn in 10/1964 and passed to A. Harling, London, a month later. By 05/1974, it was bought by J.Marshall for preservation and then preserved by the RFW14 Group, London SW16. Seen partly in the photo alongside is former Northern General 2120, FPT590C, a forward entrance/exit Park Royal bodied AEC Routemaster 3R2RH, Northern were the only operator, other than London Transport and BEA, to take Routemasters. After life with Northern, it went onto work for the original Magicbus operation of Stagecoach, being numbered 614, seeing service in Glasgow competing with both Clydeside and Kelvin Scottish who both had taken the traditional open-platform Routemasters in their numbers from LT. Since being seen here, it has had a rather chequered history in preservation and is now in a pseudo LT livery although I'm unsure of it's current status.

The camera being a Praktica MTL3 with the film being Kodachrome Colourslide.
