London Buses - London United - RML2298 CUV298C - AEC/PRV Routemaster R2RH/1 - Park Royal
Loved them or loathed them, a trip to London wouldn't be complete without a visit to Oxford Street, Europe's busiest shopping thoroughfare, to 'bag' London's Routemasters and following on from my previous photo from the same location, here are another couple, though this time from the same batch and also with different London Buses subsidiaries. Seen here heading eastbound leading sister RML2268 from the Centrewest fleet, at the Marble Arch end of the famous street, is RML2298. This immaculate Shepherds Bush based example was new to London Transport in 09/1965. As already mentioned above, RML2268, seen behind, was new to London Transport in 07/1965, and was based at Westbourne Park. RML2298 was sold out of service from Shepherds Bush in 09/2004 via store at Tolworth to J.Sander, Leichlingen, Germany, with RML2268 being withdrawn from service in 12/2003, after a further refurbishment just over two years earlier, was donated to "HAPEE World", for export to Malaysia, via USA, in 02/2004, after being stored at Willesden Junction and Ponders End.
The camera was a Praktica MTL3 with the film being the excellent FujiChrome.
I would request, as with all my photos, that they are not copied or downloaded in any way, shape or form. © Peter Steel 1993.
