Kentish Bus - RML2591 JJD591D - AEC/PRV Routemaster R2RH/1 - Park Royal
This smart RML was new to London Transport(RML2591), in 11/1966 and was among a number leased by London Transport Buses to the then Proudmutual owned Kentish Bus for LT tendered service 19. It is seen here looking immaculate emerging from Piccadilly on to Shaftesbury Avenue, at Piccadilly Circus, in early 08/1993. Creeping up on the outside is another former LT vehicles, KUC982P, operating for London Sightseeing Tours. New to London Transport(DMS1982), in 06/1976, it was one of many of the type to operate with independent operators on the round London sightseeing tours, that at this time there was plenty of competition to what had essentially been a London Transport operation. This was a fairly lucky catch of the DMS as it went to Big Apple Tours, New York, in 12/1993. The RML was converted to part open-top and was used by a firm at the 2012 London Olympics.
The camera being a Praktica MTL3 with the film being the excellent Fujichrome.
I would request, as with all my photos, that they are not copied or downloaded in any way, shape or form. © Peter Steel 1993.
