London Buses - Westlink - DWL10 JDZ2410 - Dennis Dart 9SDL3002 - Wright Handy-bus

Westlink was an autonomous subsidiary set up by London Buses operating out of Hounslow Heath and Kingston-upon-Thames. It was the trading name of the Stanwell Bus Company. Privatised on 20/01/1994 under a management buyout, ownership of the fleet passed to West Midlands Travel on 24/03/1994 and they in turn merged with the National Express Group in 04/1995. The operation was then taken over by London United 09/1995. This Dart, new to London Buses for the Westlink operation in 12/1990, in a batch of fourteen, DWL1-14, is seen here on A307 Clarence Street, Kingston-upon-Thames, in 07/1993, passing the then Kingston Bus Station, which also doubled up as a depot, or a garage in LT terms. It's London life was restricted to the south-west of the capital and in fact only operated out of two depots, Kingston, as seen here, and Hounslow Heath. It ended it's service days with McKindless, Wishaw, Scotland, to whom it passed to in 03/2000. McKindless was no stranger to buying former London Transport/Buses vehicles. Looks like the driver of the Renault 5 has picked the wrong lane and is trying to squeeze in.

The camera being a Praktica MTL3 with the film being the excellent Fujichrome.
