Shaw-Hadwin, Silverdale, Volvo - Plaxton Supreme

Two of the Lancashire operator's coaches are seen here resting in Preston Bus Station in 05/1993, obviously when day shopping excursions were popular to the the now city status of Preston. It was and probably still is a reasonably popular shopping destination for the folks of South Cumbria and North Lancashire areas. This was before the days of Manchester's Trafford Centre though. Shaw-Hadwin, are now better known as The Travellers Choice, operating out of Carnforth with their main depot and the Dalton-in-Furness depot that serves South Cumbria. The two coaches seen here are, facing the camera, on the left, 104, UIA7087, a Plaxton Supreme III bodied, with a Supreme IV facelift front, Volvo B58-61. New registered FEC952T, in 11/1978 and was probably one of the first re-registered vehicles with Shaw's. Alongside, with it's side lockers open, is 115, 6137RU, also a B58-61, but with the Plaxton Supreme IV body. This was new to Glenway(Central), Ripponden, in 02/1980, registered BHD588V. Bought by Shaw's in 1983, it received 6137RU in 05/1984.

The camera being a Praktica MTL3 with the film being a Boots Colourslide II.
