Tea-time at Victoria
This photo was taken just prior to the early evening rush at London Victoria Station, part of which can be seen to the left of the photo, in 11/1993. The bus on the left of the photo is London Buses - Metroline - M403, GYE403W, a Metro-Cammell bodied MCW Metrobus DR101/12. It was new to London Transport in 09/1980. A similar example is hard up behind, whilst in the centre lane is a RM class Park Royal bodied AEC Routemaster whilst on the right of the photo is what I think is an RML version of the Routemaster. The Metrobus started it's service days at Hanwell then operated at Criklewood, it's likely depot when seen here, and then onto Harlesden where it ended it's London days in 04/2001, a creditable twenty-one years. Passing through the hands of the famed Purfleet based dealer and operator, Ensign Bus, it passed into the hands of of the inaptly named Coastal Liner, Stafford!
The camera being a Praktica MTL3 with the film being the excellent 'Fujichrome' colourslide.
I would request, as with all my photos, that they are not copied or downloaded in any way, shape or form. © Peter Steel 1993.
