East London classics

These two examples from the East London operations of London Buses are seen here on A1211 Aldgate High Street near Aldgate Bus Station on 24/08/1992. Nearest the camera operating high frequency service 25 is T280, GYE280W, a Leyland bodied Leyland Titan TNLXB2RR, one of the hugely successful 'T' class and being an early Workington built Leyland bodied example rather than the earlier London built Park Royal bodied versions. Passing ad heading for Upton Park on Service 15, is RMC1485, 485CLT, a Park Royal bodied AEC/PRV Routemaster R2RH1. It carries the name King William I, just below the front nearside and offside lower deck side windows. New to London Transport in 10/1962, these former Green Line 'coaches' had more legroom, deeper cushioned seats and high-speed back axles. This example is now preserved in a similar livery by Ensignbus.

The camera being a Praktica MTL3 with the film being a Boots colourslide.
