Aldgate Minories Memories - August 1992

Aldate Bus Station, also known as Minories Bus Station, was always well worth a visit, especially during the afternoon peak period. Situated near the City of London business district, there were plenty of commuter services that either called here or started/ended here. You could travel as far as Southend in the east or Oxford in the west, also Cambridge and East Anglia area services called here as well as a variety of London bus routes. Seen on layover at this tea-time peak on 24/08/1992, are, from left to right, facing the camera, London Buses - East London, RML2671, SMK671F, a smart AEC/PRV Routemaster R2RH/1. New to London Transport in 09/1967, this late Routemaster is now based at Kendal with Stagecoach North West. Centre, is Reading Buses 82, D82UTF, an ECW bodied Leyland Olympian ONLXB/1RH. New in 09/1986, it was one of five coach seated examples that were delivered in 'Goldline' livery for use on the famous Reading - London X1 service. A service that ran originally through to Southend jointly with Southend Transport. It is seen here in the then latest ' The London Line' livery. On the right is Oxford Bus Company 110, EBW110Y, a Duple Dominant II Express bodied Leyland Tiger TRCTL11/3R. New in 04/1983, this was the last in a batch of ten, 101-10, EBW101-10Y, delivered to City of Oxford Motor Services for the Oxford - London 'corridor' services.

The camera being a Praktica MTL3 with the film being a Boots colourslide.
