Reading Buses - 73 RMO73Y - Leyland Titan TNLXB2RR - Leyland

Sadly, not many operators were able to call on the Titan TN for their double-deck needs, in the main due to production problems. Developed in conjunction with London Transport, they were, not surprisingly, the largest customer. In it's early years, production moved from Park Royal, London, to the Leyland National plant at Lillyhall in West Cumbria. This Leyland built example was new to Reading in 03/1983 and is seen here on Station Hill, Reading, passing the railway station on 17/05/1991. Around this time Reading Transport was being in the process of becoming Reading Buses with about five different liveries on display, this Titan looking smart when displaying the latest livery. It was in a batch of ten, 70, SBL70Y, delivered in 02/1983, a month earlier than 71-9, RMO71-9Y, 70-4 being to this configuration with 75-9 being single door coach seated examples and designated TNLXC/1RF.

The camera being a Praktica MTL3 with the film being the excellent 'Fujichrome' colourslide.

I would request, as with all my photos, that they are not copied or downloaded in any way, shape or form. © Peter Steel 1991.
