London Buses - London General - SuttonBus - DMS2271 THX271S - Leyland Fleetline B20 FE30ALR - Metro-Cammell
The 'B20' version of the Fleetline was specifically for London use, outward differences being the engine vent 'stacks' at the rear. As soon as the last of the much maligned DMS class had arrived at London Transport, then the first were being withdrawn and in no particular order really. If you wanted your 'B20' fix as late as the 1990's, then West Croydon was the place to be where these two 'SuttonBus' branded examples are seen at the bus station on 27/12/1990 with their destinations being set for either end of route 154. DMS2271 was new to London Transport in 10/1977 whilst Park Royal bodied sister seen alongside, D2646, THX646S, was new numbered DM2646 twelve months later. This was the last of the class and it now survives in preservation.
The camera being a Praktica MTL3 with the film being the excellent 'Fujichrome' colourslide.
I would request, as with all my photos, that they are not copied or downloaded in any way, shape or form. © Peter Steel 1990.
