Reading Transport 143 A143AMO MCW Metrobus Mk.II DR102/44 - Metro-Cammell

I have decided to re-submit this one. It looks like the gremlins have taken hold. So forgive me, you are not seeing double! Reading Transport was a regular customer for the Metrobus and even it's predecessor the Anglo-Swedish product, the Metro-Scania Metropolitan. Various batches of these coach seated Mk.II's were used by Reading for their popular Goldline X1 Service from Reading to London Aldgate, this one being new in 07/1984. By the time this photo was taken in August 1987 the Reading Transport portion of the X1 had been cut back from Southend-on-Sea to Aldgate with Southend Transport operating the eastern section from Southend to Aldgate. Both had been joint operators of the full route. These Metrobuses were fast and comfortable and this one is seen here at Aldgate on layover prior to heading back to Reading on a teatime departure.

The film was Agfa Colourslide. The camera being a Praktica MTL3.

I would request, as with all my photos, that they are not copied or downloaded in any way, shape or form. © Peter Steel 1987.
