wandering all over the network
A few months after I'd bought www.flickr.com/photos/8499901@N04/54568148867 I decided to snap this one up as well and it was one of three more tickets I bought from bandibacs54.
Sometime in 1980, the price of a National Wanderbus ticket had shot up by 57 pence. That might not be much but, say you hadn't used a Wanderbus ticket for a good while? That would be a bit of a shock to the fucking system!
Unlike www.flickr.com/photos/8499901@N04/54568148867, this one has been issued as you can see. When this was issued, Abba were at number one with The Winner Takes It All, which must have been a difficult fucking song for Agnetha to sing lead vocals on, given that it was about divorce and she weren't fucking smiling either in the video. Well, would you?
Snapping at the Swedes' heels at number two was Diana Ross with Upside Down. One place down was at number six was Scots lass Sheena Easton with 9 to 5, follow-up to her debut hit Modern Girl. At 14 was the late Olivia Newton-John and ELO with Xanadu from the film of the same name.
Entering the chart at 26 was the Piranhas (featuring Boring Bob Grover on lead vocals) with Tom Hark, an earworm of a song that has been used for football chants...I can just imagine scores of England fans chanting that one!
