ticket to ride on the outer circular
This was one of 13 such tickets I bought from adambrown400 on eBay last year and, when I showed them to Nadia, she told me that, not only were they Autofare 3 tickets but they were also used on the Outer Circular or 26/27 Sheil Road Circular, which was one of the first tram routes to be converted.
I think these date from the early 1980s because Derby City Transport, Lothian Regional Transport in Edinburgh and West Midlands PTE were other operators who used this electronic ticketing system. I think 0740 must be the machine number, 1881 the bus number, A26 the direction of travel while Pier Head was where the passenger boarded.
Scanning this ticket in took fucking ages because I wanted to get it dead straight on the glass!
