In 1974, this ticket would have been issued to the Widnesian public to mark the end of municipal bus operation as Widnes Corporation. On one of my early regular visits to the Manchester Museum of Transport in 1988, I bought a book of these tickets and this is the only example I have and the reverse of the ticket (in the lower part of the photo) tells you a bit more.
When Halton Council took over the following day, Paper Lace were at number one with Billy Don't Be A Hero but there were only four new entries in the Top 40.
