After the successful invasion of Bangladesh the Indian government sets its sites South on Sri Lanka. The possible strategic advantages it would give as both an observation base and an Air Force base led to the final decision being made. To accommodate this invasion a fleet of twenty battleships, two aircraft carriers and the Indian flagship HMS Varuna and a total of twenty landing craft as well as two supply carriers, 100000 soldiers, 50 artillery and anti aircraft guns and 200 aircraft.
