Lit up El Vado Motel sign at night. A sight you may never see again
Feb 2004. Closed in late 2005 after 70 years.
Route 66 Icon, Closed in 2005 when a real estate speculator bought the place to build condos. The city fought the action and the Motel has sat behind a fence ever since. It was probably the nicest Motel on 66 in Albuquerque, and one of the oldest.
I don't usually take detail photos of the rooms I stay in. Most arn't worthy of it. The El Vado was really neat, nice and clean. A true classic! Have a look through my set to see more from when the El Vado was still open.
