I used to have an aquarium set up with fish I caught in a local creek. Crawdads are the most amazing aquarium animals you could ever have. You just have to make sure the fish size and the crawdad size is a good match. Trial and error will let you know! I would rearrange the rocks and they would have a new fort built in no time. You can see a second one peeking out behind the rock. To feed them just drop in an algae wafer and they smell it out and retrieve it in seconds. You can hear them chomp at it through the glass! I would catch little minnows and stuff to feed the bluegill and creek chub etc. The goldfish you see was a feeder fish that out grew the mouths of the others. I haven't had the tank set up for some time now....
