Gio's Roll-call room
You may have seen the mock ups in TV shows and movies, but this is the genuine article. Used mostly one squad at a time to catch up on crime trends, BOLOs, safety issues and sometimes training, prior to "hitting the road" The Starwars robot looking thing on the left is a pistol clearing "barrel" It's filled with energy absorbing foam and material to stop a round and prevent any injuries due to an accidental discharge when unloading a pistol. The clip boards have home-owner requests for their property to be watched by police. Next to the flag and behind the podium is a memorial photograph of a 23 year old Officer that was killed about 2 years ago. Weeks before that he was on my squad. I was technically his supervisor about 70% of the time. He loved his career, was engaged to be married and I think just bought a house. He went to another squad and weeks later I'm standing guard, next to his casket for 8 hrs. This roll-call room was named after him in his honor. When I crashed, I joked that if I had been killed they would have named the microwave oven in the lounge after me.
Note: The night that this initial set of photos was taken, an Officer in a different district (same department) was shot. Fortunately he was not to severely wounded and will be okay
