We travelled by bus and train from Kabul - passing Peshawar, Lahore, Amritsar, Pathankot - to Srinagar. We left Kabul on Juy 2 and arrived in Srinagar three days later, July 5.
The night from July 2/3 we were sleeping on the train. The night from 3/4 was spend in Tourist Hotel Panthankot.
July 4, Friday, we took the bus from Pathankot to Jammu, where we bivacked on the floor of the office of Aryan, an Indian we met on the bus. In the evening we had our first experience of Indian movies.
July 5, Saturday, arrival in Srinagar, Hotel International.
In the afternoon we rented a houseboat for 17,5 RP, with breakfast. and TOLET, Dandoo Palace.
The bus ride from Jammu to Srinagar went through the mountains. Along the road were texts like:
This is not a race or rally, drive slowly and enjoy the Kashmir Valley.
Drive slow and with care, death will never dare.
Take your time, not your life.
Be gentle on my curves.
Your family needs you, drive slowly.
Life is a four letter word, so is slow. Death is a five letter word, so is speed.
