Memo's TV in Wilmington, 2004

Photo taken March, 2004 on N. Avalon Boulevard in Wilmington, California.

At the plant where I worked there was a young maintenance contractor super whose first name was "Guillermo" but went by the nickname 'Memo.' As it turns out, 'Memo' is a common nickname in Spanish for Guillermo just as 'Bill' is to 'William.' But at the time he was the first and only one we knew at work as 'Memo'.

One time as a couple of us in our department headed out for lunch at Tepechi Restaurant, a local favorite, I spotted this business named "Memo's TV" on nearby Avalon Boulevard in Wilmington. We had a chuckle about it, speculating that our already busy, hard working friend Memo also had a secret side business outside of the refinery of repairing TVs and VCRs*. Of course I had to take a photo of it.

I presented a copy of this photo to our Memo and asked about the TV repair business. He was also surprised and we had a real laugh about it!

I also like that temporary 'Tax Service' banner tied to the beauty shop sign underneath.
