My Wonderful Colleagues
These guys were all Area Inspectors with whom I worked at one time or another at the refinery. We covered the Crude Units, Vacuum Distillation Units and various other component stream treating units. Each one of these men were extremely qualified, competent, thorough, ethical and responsible. Omar, the man in the center, was the Inspector of those units at the time of the photo. Louis, the man on the left preceded Omar in that position. Joey, on the right preceded Louis in covering those units. I was the mechanical engineer for those units so by great fortune I was able to work with each of these men when they were responsible for the same operating units.
Each one of them occupied that same desk when he was that area’s inspector. One morning in June, 2016, they were all congregated together at that desk, which was Omar’s at the time. It was right next to where my desk was. Seeing the opportunity to get a photo of all three of them, I quickly grabbed my camera and took this shot.
During major unit turnarounds they kept track of all Inspection duties prescribed by company, industry and jurisdictional requirements, a daunting task. Having overall responsibility for the units, they had to personally sign off on the integrity of the process equipment before putting process units back on stream.
