Buick Tour-X at Lowes - Attractive, OK or Ugly?

I accompanied my grandson, age 27, to a local Lowe's home improvement store in order for him to buy a power hammer drill that he needed for a home project. That's how I have come to accumulate the majority of my hand and power tools - buy them as needed for a project and keep them for the next tasks. And buy good ones if you expect to use them multiple times in your life.

Upon exiting the store I spied this rarely encountered Buick Regal Tour-X station wagon in the parking lot. I think it is a pretty good modern take on an estate/wagon that's based on a sedan. It's not your run-the-gamut crossover that seems to be the people's choice these days. It was parked across the aisle from my grandson's own Generation 9 Chevrolet Malibu.

The Tour-X is actually a re-badged and re-grilled Opel Insignia from Germany. I pointed it out to my grandson, who generally likes cars himself, saying, "Hey that's a rare vehicle! A Buick Tour-X that's actually an Opel Insignia made in Germany. It has a turbocharged engine with 250hp and has all-wheel drive."

His reaction? Instead of something like, "hey that's cool," or "I've never seen one," it was a rather disappointing 2-word reaction: "It's ugly."

I mean, really? It's ugly? (He probably didn't realize that it is actually made on the same platform as his Gen 9 Malibu but with less fussy lines!)

Well, I suppose that I really should consider the source - illuminating the footwell of his Malibu interior at night is a string of LED lights, the colors of which can be changed as desired, giving it a bit of a sleazy lounge appearance. He's mentioned that he wants to do something similar to the perimeter of his bed support base. These are definitely not the kind of words expected from an arbiter of good taste! :-D

So is it attractive, neutral or ugly? What say you?

The running tally, updated as I become aware of votes:

Positive - 11 (including myself)

Neutral - 1

Negative - 1 (my grandson)
