Circa 1977. Turbocharging a Mazda rotary engine was the project tackled by Dr. Edelman's Automotive Engineering class.
Here's my classmate Les G., a Mechanical Engineering (ME) student who also had practical experience in arc welding. He's the the one shown under the car, a Mazda RX-4 wagon, in the Comments section below.
The task at hand that day was to tack weld a few experimental fabricated parts together in their desired positions and orientations with respect to the available space in the engine compartment.
Upon graduation I believe he secured a ME position with Procter & Gamble.
