Ford F150 Pickup Truck with Many Tanks

Circa mid 1990's. This was an experimental photo taken with a borrowed wide Nikkor lens. I'm not sure if I wound up buying the lens or not. My favorite camera store, Terry's Camera in Long Beach, always had a variety of used camera lenses available for sale. Whenever an interesting one became available, I would try it out. The Nikon SLRs that I've purchased were pre-owned ones from Terry's as well. They are great, durable cameras with an extensive system of optics and other accessories behind them.

By this time, I was using my favorite of the series, the Nikon F2AS.

About the location shown: This photo was taken in the plant’s storage tank area, known as a ‘tank farm.’ One time I made the mistake of driving through what turned out to be a big muddy spot on one of the roads in the farm and got the truck stuck! The truck could move forward a little bit but would lose traction and stop going forward. Darn! Then I remembered what I read once as a kid, the technique of rocking a car out by moving forward a bit, then moving backward a bit, and quickly repeating the process several times, moving a little bit more distance each time. It worked!! Oh what a relief!
