Los Alamitos High
Circa 1972. This young man was my classmate from junior high through high school.
I have a junior high school memory that involves this young man indirectly. On our last day of 9th Grade at Pine Junior High School, the school day was over at midday. For some reason, there was no school bus to take us home back to College Park East! Quite a few of us, expecting the school bus, were in the quandary of what to do to get home. This young man's mom happened to then pull up in front of the school with their new 1970 Ford Mustang to pick him up. Several of my fellow school bus riders began to approach the car, hoping to get a ride home. What I remember seeing was those kids stopping in their tracks as the mom quickly waved them off and then drove away. To be fair, they may have been on their way to another destination. We'll never know. I suppose that most of us simply walked into the school office and then called a parent (no cell phones back then) for a ride home. I knew that both of my parents would be at work, so I simply walked the 3+ miles back home!
He was a resident of College Park East in Seal Beach.
Pine Junior High is now known as McAuliffe Middle School.
