Bootcamp Portrait

This is assignment #3 of the lighting bootcamp, "Looksmart". I couldn't find a willing volunteer so I focused on a tripod and then sat in. AB 800 monolight into a brolly at mid upper camera left, background is a wall lit by 430EX with two blue gels, 1/16 manual, WB set to flash. f11, 1/250, ASA 100, 28-70 2.8, Canon 20D, manual exp. Triggered camera by PW, ST-E2 to trigger 430, and hardwire trigger to AB monolight. That seems to be the only easy way to get them all to talk nice together.

I accidentally cut my head off, but to my surprise it looked OK. I had a softbox at camera right for fill, but the pic looked better with that one turned off. Overall I think it worked out, though I realize that it looks like a copy of a typical portrait you might find in any corporate magazine. Alas, for only something creative....
