Panic

Although shooting with only ambient light is easier, I find that the better DOF and better contrast and colors makes flash worth the effort. Just adding enough flash to kiss the subject makes that transition beyond the optimal flash range more gradual. For some reason, flash ghosting hasn't been a big issue. Notice the ideal WB varies depending on how much flash is illuminating the area.

 

AB800 camera left, bounced off a low reflective ceiling, 1/4 power, PW triggers, Canon 5D 1/200s, f4.5, ISO 800, manual exp, +1EV, 70-200 2.8. WB 4250. Noise Ninja.
