Chincheros, a small Andean Village in Sacred Valley in Peru
It is half way between Cusco and Machu Picchu, located high up at the elevation of 3765 meters or 12,236 ft The village was an important town in Inca times. The most striking remnant of this period is the massive stone wall in the main plaza. In this picture you can see an adobe colonial church, dating from the early seventeenth century, has been built upon the foundations of an Inca temple or palace. The Sunday market at Plaza is famous, locals sell their hand crafted goods. We visited on a Saturday there were only few people.
