From Lima, we took a flight to Cusco and then immediately headed to Ollantaytambo and used it as base to explore Machu Picchu and other areas in Sacred Valley. Many tour books warned us of high altitude sickness that most people feels at Cusco, which is around 12,000 ft. Ollantaytambo is around 6000 ft, so does not cause any problem. Anyway, Ollantaytambo ruins are on top of a hill called Temple Hill just outside the town. The staircase like thing in the picture is not staircase but called Terraces build for the purpose of farming. Terraces were built in so many places by Inca people.
