All of the stones are hewn from rock found in the catchment area of the River Eden: Kirkstone slate, Shap limestone, Penrith sandstone, Lazonby sandstone, Shap granite and millstone grit. The work was commissioned by the Eden Rivers Trust and was funded as part of a Heritage Lottery Fund grant.
The circle is located by the River Eden at the eastern end of Rickerby Park near Brunstock Beck, a short walk to the south of the parking area (approximate map ref: NY412568). The inscriptions on the stones can be read by viewing the image full size.
