Another One
This is another one of those photos that every Chicago photographer eventually gets. This is Chinatown's Pui Tak Center, lined up perfectly with the Sears Tower. The Pui Tak Center is the honorary hub of Chinatown. It was built in 1928 by the On Leong Merchants Association and used at first as an immigrant assistance center. Locals referred to it as the Chinatown Town Hall.
In more recent history, the FBI raided the building in 1988 as part of a racketeering investigation, and the U.S. government seized the building. The Chinese Christian Union Church bought the building in 1993 with the intention of restoring it, and the restoration process has been going on ever since.
