Yield

I liked the trees scattered around the neat rows of this corn.

I had this phase back in my newspaper days when I interviewed a lot of farmers about farm trends and techniques. Satellite geomapping and tracking was just starting to be a thing back then, and I talked to one farmer who used satellite information to track how much rain every single foot inside his fields had gotten, and where the water was flowing, and how the corn or soybeans were growing in real time using maps with fancy graphics that popped up on his desktop computer. That was twenty years ago, so I can't imagine how fancy all this stuff must be now. I wonder what the satellites tell this farmer about the corn growing in the shadow of that tree.
