Black Hole Sun
There was an annular eclipse today visible over mostly uninhabited places in Canada and Siberia, but I don't live in a mostly uninhabited place, so I didn't see the part that makes it annular. I live in Chicago, which was right at the edge of the territory that would see a partial eclipse. The eclipse started well before sunrise, so we only got about 15 minutes at the very end. Which, as it turns out, was pretty cool, because the sun is dimmer when it's low on the horizon, so for probably the only time in my life, I could see a partial eclipse with my very own unprotected eyes. I rose early and went downtown, where I caught it just as it rose over Lake Michigan.
