Summit

The Sherman Summit rest stop at the summit of Wyoming's Laramie Range stands at an elevation of 8,820 feet, the highest point along the route of Interstate 80 from New York City to San Francisco. I've driven all of Interstate 80 except an 86-mile stretch between San Francisco and Sacramento. (We took a weird and pointless circular path through Stockton when we passed that way in 2007.) I suspect this is the second highest point along the entire interstate highway system. The highest point is the Eisenhower Tunnel along Interstate 70 in Colorado. I can't think of another point that would be higher than Sherman Summit.
