Honoring our Ancient Ancestors

Letter to the Editor:

Old habits are hard to get rid of

I was shocked and some what distraught, after I decided to experience the reading of HJW III editorial concerning the Columbia Police Citizen Oversight Board.

I must admit it’s a good start, because it can mirror our judicial system, which has the ultimate authority and methodology to stop abuse of authority, pertaining to our public officials and officers.

A well crafted over sight process that excludes any citizen, based on belief and or opinion, rather than facts and truths , suggest fixed development and stagnation.

An age old historical pattern and practice of the non progressive majority to exclude and or discriminate, through political propaganda, to keep disenfranchised people out of the full spectrum of our political process.

However, I have no confidence in three of the appointed members, Elbert, Smith and Williams, based on factual reasons and my experiences. Can all three effectually execute the process without conflict of interest? No! Have they attempted to resolve any of my many complaints, beginning in 2002 to the present? No! Should we allow proxy negotiations? No!

Dr. King warned of and had to overcome this very similar event and or experience of classism, when he wished to share himself with others, while in the Birmingham jail.

The main goals of any group effort to correct injustice and the abuse of authority, must contain those who are directly affected and those who have filed complaints, alleging police misconduct. Another key element is it must contain those who have filed criminal and civil appeals, that have been denied by the higher courts, to affirm the obstruction of justice. Boone County Justice System performs legalized lynching, by applying suppression of exculpatory evidence, from most juries as a key element for consideration of innocence, while using theories and some science coupled with their beliefs and opinions to obtain convictions.

Its kind of sad that Hank and Mayor Hindman haven’t progressed in extending and perpetuating opportunities equally for all, as the rest of the progressive majority has endeavored to do so. Thanks to radical journalist we have freedom of the press! Thanks to the progressive majority for allowing me to exercise my freedom of speech. For some old habits aren’t hard to overcome.

Respectfully,

Marlon L. Jordan
