Famed as the site of Hercules' successful battle against the Nemean lion. University of California began excavating this site in 1973, and much work has been accomplished here in the years since this photo was taken, including the excavation of the stadium and the discovery of an intact early Mycenaen tomb dating ca. 1650-1400 BCE
