While built new by NREC in the United States, they are fitted with reconditioned engines (EMD 16-645E3B), alternators (EMD AR10) and traction motors (EMD D78). Gross engine power is 3300hp. Gross mass was specified as 132 tonnes, but has since been amended in the track owners' manuals to 134 tonnes. Load rating is the same as the 81, BL, G, GL, VL and upgraded C classes.
1101 and 1103 are running around their train after arrival. When re-attached, they will push the train into the port for stripping and reloading.
