Preamble: I completed just over a dozen drawings wherein I am offering tribute to Jim Dine. I put one of my drawings adjacent three of his, selections being based on similarity of emotions being portrayed. Differences are in drawing styles. Mr. Dine of course is king; of his 150 drawings each seems to look like it was done by a different artist!
My drawing (upper left) is one of Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux' LES TROIS GRACES -- a sculptural portrait from the Mpls. Inst. of Art.
Mindset or feelings of all four I see portrayed:
avidity, exuberance, jollity.
Dine's three images are from SOME GREEKS, SOME ROMANS, 1996 (150 drawings featured); courtesy himself and his publisher, Pace Gallery and Wildenstein & Co.
