Amicalola Falls - (Nov 2011)
This is an amazing ribbon falls in Georgia. Amicalola is a Cherokee Indian word meaning tumbling waters which is certainly appropriate given the Falls are over 700 feet long and are the tallest east of the Mississippi River. The path along side the Falls includes over 600 stairs so you're pretty much bagged by the time you get to the top. We did the climb twice in addition to about 6 miles of other trail hikes over fairly rugged terrain during the 2 days we were there. I was certainly looking forward to the flat terrain of Florida after doing this.
