Kolodyne/ Kaladan river or Chhimtuipui-Along upstream

(Welcome Arch of Maraland Gospel Centenary, 2007 at the end of the bridge).

Besides, this river was recently in the news because of the fact that the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has signed an agreement with the Mizoram government for execution of 460 mega watt Kolodyne Stage II Hydro Electric Power Project on the this river in Saiha and Lawngtlai districts of Mizoram. It will be the NTPC’s first hydro power project in the northeast and the second in the country after the 800 mega watt Koldam hydel power project in Himachal Pradesh. The NTPC is currently building, coal based, 750 mega watt Salakati thermal power project in Kokrajhar district within the Bodo Territorial Autonomous district in lower Assam.

(p.s. The river rises in central Chin State of Myanmar as the Timit and flows towards south and is soon joined by the Chal, after which it is known as the Boinu River. It continues south until just before it is joined by the Twe River then it turns north and becomes the international border between India and Myanmar(Burma). It flows north as international border and continues northward along the Tyao River, and the Boinu heads northwest into Mizoram State, at which point it is known as the Kaladan or Chhimtuipui.

Within Mizoram it turns south west and is joined by the Tuichong River from the right and then heads south. The Kaladan is joined from the right by the Mat River.. It continues south and is joined by the Kawrthingdeng River from the right. It again enters Chin State,Myanmar at Raithaw Ferry, just northwest of Khenkhar. The Mi River joins from the left and then by Ngame, thereafter the river enters the Rakhine State of Myanmar and continues south to Sittwe where it enters the Bay of Bengal.)
