James Connolly Room

Dublin Castle. The room was once part of the Viceroy’s quarters. In 1915, this room and the rest of the State Apartments became a Red Cross Hospital for soldiers wounded in World War I. It was here, in 1916, that James Connolly (1868-1916) was treated for the injuries he had sustained in leading the Easter Rising against British rule in Ireland.
