MASKS- DARTH MAUL HORNS

As much as I dislike Star Wars: The Phantom Menace as a film it does enjoy the usual complement of interesting costume, make-up and other design elements.

So, when a partygoer asked me to help him get his Darth Maul costume together I thought it would be an interesting little project.

I sculpted the positives onto my own head cast in order to approximate the angle that the prosthetics meet the skin. After casting the molds in plaster I brushed in latex, later colouring the pieces with an acrylic latex mix.

Because the pieces are hollow you get a bit of help applying them because you can squeeze them slightly to create a vaccuum effect to supplament whatever prosthetic glue you use.

Didn't ever get a picture of the completed costume, so I guess I could re-title this frame as A Dearth Of Darth....
